She Spent Three Days Trying to Rescue a Frightened Stray Dog — 40 Days Later, Fubao Had an Unexpected Surprise

On her way to work one morning, a woman spotted a dog with badly matted fur. Concerned about the animal’s condition, she called out to it, hoping to offer some help. But the dog was frightened and quickly ran away before she could get close.

After work, she searched for the dog again and eventually found it among several other dogs. She offered food, but the animal remained cautious, accepting a sausage only after some hesitation. Even then, it kept its distance and disappeared as soon as it had finished eating.

For the next two days, the woman continued trying to approach the elusive dog. Finally, on the third day, she and her husband managed to bring it home. They named her Fubao, hoping she would enjoy a happier life. They had no idea that, just over a month later, their new companion would surprise them in a way they never expected.

Fubao Slowly Learned to Trust Her New Family

Fubao’s first journey home was not easy. Her husband wrapped her in a cloak while they took her to a pet shop for grooming. However, she struggled so much that the staff could only give her a simple trim before allowing them to leave.

At home, another challenge awaited. The couple already had a dog, and the resident pet reacted by barking and baring its teeth at the newcomer. Fubao trembled inside her cage, too frightened to venture out.

The following day, her owners took her to another pet shop for a bath and proper grooming. Back home, the tension between the two dogs continued, but Fubao mostly kept to herself.

Then, little by little, things began to change.

By the fifth day, Fubao was approaching her owners voluntarily. They could pet her more easily, although her body still trembled whenever they touched her. She was no longer running away, but she was still learning that human hands could be gentle.

That evening, her owner patted her head and said goodnight. The next morning, Fubao was still sleeping peacefully, even snoring. Later, she began seeking hugs and eating well.

Within a week, she could enjoy a bath at home without resisting. Afterwards, she rolled happily on the sofa, looking increasingly comfortable in her surroundings.

By the tenth day, Fubao had become part of the family. The two dogs were getting along, and when their owner returned from work, both rushed over to greet her. What had started with barking and fear had become a household full of eager affection.

“Sometimes, the first sign of trust is simply an animal choosing to come closer instead of running away.”

Her Growing Belly Revealed Something Unexpected

By the fifteenth day, Fubao was lying on the bed, waiting for her owner to play with her. She had changed remarkably from the cautious stray who once refused to approach anyone.

Her playful side also began to emerge. When her owner gave her a toy on the eighteenth day, Fubao reacted in an amusing way before eventually tearing it apart.

Around the twenty-fifth day, her husband held Fubao for the first time. But while the family enjoyed getting to know their new companion, they also began noticing some unusual changes. Her husband detected a fishy smell, and Fubao seemed less active than before.

By the thirtieth day, she had gained considerable weight and was spending more time resting. Her owner initially thought she had simply become too heavy, even jokingly telling her that she needed to lose weight.

But Fubao’s expanding belly suggested something else.

On the thirty-second day, her owner took her to the veterinary hospital for an examination. The results brought an unexpected revelation: Fubao was pregnant and already close to giving birth.

Suddenly, her recent behavior made sense. The growing belly, reduced activity, and unusual smell had all appeared while the family was busy helping her settle into her new home.

The couple had rescued one frightened dog, only to discover that they would soon be welcoming several more.

As the days passed, Fubao’s belly grew larger, and they could even see the puppies moving inside her. It was an extraordinary development for a dog who had only recently begun feeling safe around people.

Forty Days After Her Rescue, Fubao Welcomed Four Puppies

On the fortieth day, Fubao began digging frantically at her bedding and tearing apart the cardboard box beneath her. Her breathing grew heavy, and her body trembled.

Her owner was worried and unsure how to help. A veterinarian confirmed that Fubao was about to give birth.

That night, Fubao delivered four puppies: three males and one female.

The mother immediately began licking her newborns, tending to them as they settled beside her. The frightened stray who had once kept her distance from humans was now focused on protecting her own little family.

The following day, Fubao would not let her owners approach the puppies without protest. She growled softly whenever someone came too close, making it clear that she wanted her babies left alone.

Her owners gave her space as she cared for the newborns. The puppies slept peacefully after feeding, while Fubao looked exhausted from the demands of motherhood.

Six days later, the little family was continuing to grow. At two weeks old, the puppies were taken outside to enjoy some sunshine, with Fubao staying close beside them. Two days after that, they opened their eyes for the first time, beginning to discover the world beyond their mother’s warmth.

By twenty-two days after birth, the puppies were growing, and Fubao had settled into her new role.

Her journey had begun with a chance encounter on the way to work. Three days of patient effort brought her into a home where she could finally rest, and forty days later, that same home welcomed four new lives.

Fubao’s rescue became more than the story of one dog finding safety. It became the beginning of a growing family, one that no one could have anticipated when she first ran away from the woman trying to help her.
