He drove her straight to our welcoming gates at the Sezar Sanctuary in the province of Gilan. “It breaks my heart to see how she still looks for her master, completely unable to understand why he abandoned her,” I shared with my rescue team.

We immediately welcomed Khorshid into our sanctuary and began working to ease her immense physical discomfort. Our dedicated veterinary staff carefully evaluated her fragile body to determine the very best course of action:

• We provided a nutrient-rich diet to help her safely regain her healthy body weight.

We made sure to give her a warm, soft bed where she could finally rest without looking over her shoulder. “We promised her that those terrible days of suffering were over, and she would only know safety from now on,” I whispered while stroking her head.

Slowly but surely, her bare skin healed, and her beautiful golden fur started to grow back in. She blossomed into a happy, confident girl who was finally ready to embrace a second chance at life.

A Bittersweet Goodbye Before a Long Journey to France

However, we knew this loving family was the perfect match to cherish her for the rest of her life. We made sure she had a thorough check-up, updated vaccinations, and a cozy travel crate lined with familiar sanctuary blankets.

Watching her airplane take off into the clouds felt like the beautiful closing of a very painful chapter.

When she finally arrived in France, her new parents were eagerly waiting at the airport with open arms. They gently stroked her new fur, and she instantly knew she was finally exactly where she truly belonged.
