Investigative tips led authorities to the Cape Coral residence of Ashley Howard, who had allegedly abandoned Khaleesi after owning her for only five months.

When investigators searched the property, they discovered three additional dogs, two of which were suffering from the exact same severe malnourishment that almost claimed Khaleesi’s life.

The third dog, belonging to Howard’s boyfriend, Charles Koon, was in decent health, but authorities determined Koon was fully aware of the horrific neglect occurring inside the home.

All three dogs were immediately confiscated for emergency medical treatment, and both Howard and Koon were rightfully arrested on severe animal cruelty charges.

“I’m absolutely disgusted by the extreme suffering these sick people caused to three helpless dogs,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno announced. “Thanks to the incredible work from our Animal Cruelty Task Force and East CID Detectives, the suspects are behind bars.”
