There is a specific kind of heartbreak that comes from looking into the eyes of an animal who has completely given up.

The initial medical check revealed the grim reality of her suffering. Her enormous stomach was heavily bloated with an excessive amount of trapped fluids. The situation was so severe that the fluid retention had spread, causing her delicate back legs to become heavily swollen as well.

The staff named her Bean, hoping the cute name would mark the beginning of a much better life.

On Day 1, Bean was given her first round of medical treatments to stabilize her fragile system. Despite her immense discomfort, the sweet girl bravely managed to eat a little bit of food. It gave the doctors hope, but they knew the hardest part of her treatment was still ahead of her.

The next 24 hours were absolutely critical for little Bean’s survival.
