As team leader Mikael Lindnord quietly opened his rations, a severely battered, sickly stray emerged from the thick foliage, his exhausted eyes locked desperately onto the food.

He gently tossed a single meatball to the trembling creature, entirely unaware that this brief encounter was about to permanently alter the trajectory of both their lives.
